Q&A With My Bestie - Becca Miller!

Welcome back to Katching Up with Katie! Today's episode is a little different because I'm in the interviewer's seat. Usually, Abigail handles this, but she's taking a well-deserved day off. Don't worry - she's still around, just Snapchatting behind the scenes!

This time, I'm sitting down with my best friend, Becca. You might know her from TikTok and Facebook, where she shares her life with her cows, family, and even some adorable miniature horses and goats (some of which she got from me!). She's been growing her audience, and y'all had a ton of questions for her - so let's dive in!

Do You Have a "Heart Horse"?

Becca: Probably my first show horse, Maria. She was a gorgeous chestnut quarter horse with a golden shine and a unique blaze that curved to the side. I showed her for five or six years, jumping around 2'6" to 3' classes. She wasn't the best mover, but she was so comfortable to ride - it felt like floating on a cloud. Years later, I randomly spotted her while driving with my husband. I made him pull over, jumped a fence (probably trespassing, oops), and ran across a field. It was her! Her old owner was still taking care of her, and she was in her late 20s, fully retired. It was such a crazy, special moment!

If You Could Build Your Dream Horse, What Would It Look Like?

Becca: 16.3 to 17 hands, deep-bodied, dark-colored - I love a big bay or black horse. I want a horse with flat, smooth movement, a little bit of a challenge to ride, but not too easy. I like them a little "dumb-hot," meaning they keep me on my toes but aren't completely wild. I don't want a push-button horse; I enjoy working for it!

Have You Had Any Horse-Related Injuries?

Becca: Oh yeah! Starting from the bottom up - my left pinky toe doesn't bend down because it got stepped on and broke. I don't even remember which horse did it. When I was 14, I got thrown when a horse was stung by a wasp. I flew over his head, and he accidentally stepped on my shoulder, breaking the ball off my arm bone and cracking some ribs. That was not fun. I've hit the ground plenty of times in hunter-jumper riding, but that was my worst fall.

What’s Your Beef with Blue Roans?

Becca: Okay, hear me out - this is just my opinion, but I think they look dirty all the time! I don't like how their coats look like they just rolled in mud. I also don't love their conformation. Everyone freaked out when I said this on my page, but I stand by it. I prefer solid dark-colored horses with a big white blaze or bald face. That said, I do like some blue roans, but the one everyone asked about just isn't my favorite.

How Do You Balance It All? What's Your Day Like?

Becca: Structure and routine are key! I work a full-time job, manage the farm, cook three meals a day, and take care of my kids. Social media has become a big part of my life too, and I love sharing everything from cooking to cow life. My days are busy, but having a schedule helps me juggle it all. I make lists all the time to keep track of everything.
